The new African Centre for Food Security aims to contribute towards eradicating food deprivation and promoting sustainable livelihoods among the people and nations of sub-Saharan Africa. By facilitating and conducting professional training and trans-disciplinary research, and through targeted information dissemination and informed advocacy, it seeks to establish, support and sustain a critical mass of personnel, as well as a network of collaborating institutions and organisations, equipped to lead effective food security policy and practice across the sub-continent.

Centre for Social Protection at the Institute of Development Studies
The Center for Social Protection aims to provide a global focus for research, policy analysis, and capacity building on social protection. It brings together researchers from the Vulnerability and Poverty Team at IDS Sussex encompassing a broad range of disciplinary approaches, together with partners from five regions: Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, South Asia, East and Southeast Asia.
