Parliamentarians from Angola and Mozambique attended and presentations were given by Paul Msoma and Katharine Vincent of RHVP on the status of poverty in southern Africa and the various types of social transfer instruments that have been used by different countries. The Angolan and Mozambican delegations, headed respectively by Honourable Ana Maria Oliveira and Honourable Açucena Xavier Duarte, presented overviews of their own social development programmes and policies, as well information on current budgetary allocation. The meeting closed with the drafting of a communiqué that expressed both countries' commitments to furthering the use of social transfers to address poverty.
