The long debate over how to regulate mobile transfers of money was again raised at the 2010 AITEC COMESA Banking and Mobile Payments conference in Nairobi. In his opening address, Kenya's finance minister Uhuru Kenyatta said that, “On our part, at the Treasury, the Central Bank and the Communications Commission, we recognise the need to further strengthen our supervisory capacity in order to stay ahead of the curve."
