Social protection specialist (L4), ESARO
The Regional Office in Eastern and Southern Africa (ESARO) is looking to hire a social protection specialist to assist in UNICEF's rapidly expanding work in the field of social protection. Under the supervision of the Regional Social Policy Advisor, the social protection specialist will first systematically bring together the experiences of the UNICEF country offices in the region in social protection programming, with particular focus on social cash transfers, into a report describing the state of social protection initiatives in ESAR as well as the construction of a community of practice; and second, assist the Regional Social Policy Advisor in providing technical assistance on social cash transfers to country offices in the region. This is a 11 month temporary position, based in our regional office in Nairobi. The position requires an advanced degree in Economics or related social science, and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience in social protection, and particularly with social cash transfers in terms of policy/program formulation, research, evaluation and/or implementation. Experience in Africa is desirable.

Social Policy Specialist (L4), Ghana
This person will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Social Protection aspects of the Ghana country programme. Accountable for effective engagement in social policy dialogue with the Government for social protection programme development, obtaining evidence to advocate for increased public resource allocation and budgeting towards the social protection sector, and building local capacity to support universal coverage of essential social protection
services.

Social Policy Specialist (L4), Namibia
This person will be responsible for the design, development and management of social policy analysis in the Namibia UNICEF Country Office as well as engagement/programme strategy on social policy analysis and research. Support the development of high-quality economic and social data and information search and analysis on development issues and strategies,
national legislation and public policies for the rights of children and women, including using country-level data and information generated by UNICEF country offices, other UN agencies and academic sources that reflect existing disparities and enable a focus on the conditions of socially-excluded and vulnerable groups. Provide technical inputs for information and advocacy activities for poverty reduction/poverty alleviation initiatives, including leveraging resources for children from national/regional/international agencies, the private sector, civil society and religious organizations. Provide technical support to UNICEF and as part
of UN Working Group for the development of national social policy and social protection policies, strategies and systems.
